Homemade Tallow & Beef Croutons

Tallow has to be one of the best sources of fat for cooking as it's rich in healthy fats and super-versatile. In this post we'll show you how to make your own tallow with the added by-product of THE MOST DELICIOUS beef croutons ...⁠

Ingredients⁠

  • Fat offcuts from your butcher⁠ (at least 1kg)⁠

Method

  1. Cut the fat into small 1cm cubes (trimming as much meat off as possible)⁠
  2. Add to a pan on low heat⁠
  3. Render down slowly until the cubes have released the fat (could take up to 20mins)⁠
  4. Stir until the cubes are crunchy⁠
  5. Remove the croutons from the pan with a strainer⁠
  6. Pour the tallow into a glass container to cool⁠
  7. Store tallow in the fridge once cooled⁠
  8. Generously salt the croutons and eat fresh 🤤
